Thomas Franks, CFASenior Managing Director, Chief Investment Officer, Global Equity Investments

Thomas Franks is a senior managing director and Chief Investment Officer of Global Equity Investments for the TIAA-CREF organization. In this role, Mr. Franks oversees active and quantitative portfolio management, equity research and equity trading activities for the organization. Previously, he was head of Equity Portfolio Management. Mr. Franks joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2001. Mr. Franks has 17 years of industry experience, including several years at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. in sell-side equity research. Mr. Franks earned a B.S. in operations research and industrial engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School at UCLA. He is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.

Saira Malik, CFAManaging Director, Head of Global Active Equity Portfolio Management, Global Equity Investments

Saira Malik is a managing director and Head of Global Active Equity Portfolio Management for the TIAA-CREF organization. In addition, Ms. Malik has portfolio management responsibilities for the diversified equity investment strategy. She joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2003. Ms. Malik has 19 years of investment experience, including positions with JP Morgan Asset Management as vice president and portfolio manager for a small cap growth fund, as well as an equity research analyst. Ms. Malik earned a B.S. in economics from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, as well as an M.S. in finance from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Andrea MitroffManaging Director, Equity Investments

Andrea Mitroff is a managing director and active equity portfolio manager for the TIAA-CREF organization. Ms. Mitroff manages large-cap growth investments. She joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2006. Ms. Mitroff has 25 years of industry experience. Previously, she worked at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers as a portfolio manager of the Disciplined Equity and Renaissance Global Sectors portfolios. Prior to that, Ms. Mitroff served at AIM Funds Management as the director of quantitative analysis and at Barra as a financial consultant. Ms. Mitroff holds a B.S. in economics from the University of California at Riverside and an M.P.A. in public and international affairs from Princeton University.

John TriboletManaging Director, Head of Active Global Equity Research, Global Equity Investments

John Tribolet is a managing director and Head of Active Global Equity Research for the TIAA-CREF organization. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of leading and managing the team. In addition, he is a member of the active equity portfolio management team. Mr. Tribolet manages global equity portfolios. He joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2005. Mr. Tribolet has 17 years of industry experience. In addition to being a portfolio manager at TIAA-CREF since 2005, Mr. Tribolet has also held international portfolio manager positions at Loomis, Sayles & Co. and Nicholas Applegate. Previous to that, he worked as an analyst in corporate finance. Mr. Tribolet holds a B.A. in economics from Columbia University and an M.B.A. in finance with honors from the University of Chicago.
