Under the Fund’s expense reimbursement arrangements, the Fund’s investment adviser, Teachers Advisors, Inc., has contractually agreed to reimburse the Fund for any Total Annual Fund Operating Expenses (excluding interest, taxes, brokerage commissions or other transactional expenses, Acquired Fund Fees and Expenses and extraordinary expenses) that exceed:0.48% of average daily net assets for Retail Class shares.These expense reimbursement arrangements will continue through at least July 31, 2015, unless changed with approval of the Board of Trustees.

James Tsang is a director of quantitative strategies for the TIAA-CREF organization. Mr. Tsang is responsible for quantitative portfolio strategies, derivatives analytics, and performance analysis. In addition, he is the co-Portfolio Manager of the TIAA-CREF Bond Index Fund. Previously, Mr. Tsang was a Senior Quantitative Analyst at AIG Investment Management Co., where he was responsible for portfolio and derivatives investment strategies. He joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2007.Mr. Tsang has 17 years of industry experience including positions at AIG, Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., Mackenzie Investment Management Inc., and EBF & Associates Fixed Income Arbitrage Hedge Fund.Mr. Tsang earned a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Anhui University, an M.S. in Computational Mathematics from Chinese Academy of Sciences, a Ph.D in Statistics from Michigan State University, and an M.S. in Financial Mathematics from the University of Chicago.
L. Kevin Chen is a director and portfolio manager for the TIAA-CREF organization. As a member of the Fixed Income team, Mr. Chen is responsible for quantitative portfolio strategies in global fixed-income markets, quantitative market surveillance, investment analytics and performance analysis. Previously he was director, Market Risk, Enterprise Risk Management, where he was responsible for firm-wide risk management activities including both market and credit risk analysis, covering fixed-income holdings across a wide spectrum of investment vehicles. He joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2004. Mr. Chen has over 12 years of industry experience including positions at the United Nations’ Development Program (UNDP), where he served as a treasury consultant responsible for investment portfolio risk reporting, foreign currency hedging and portfolio performance analysis, and as founder and senior partner at OSI Solutions, where he provided services to clients in banking, investment management, electronic commerce, and public transportations. Mr. Chen earned a B.S. in Computer Information Science from Fudan University, an M.S. in Computer Science from Temple University, and an M.B.A. in Finance and Operations Research from New York University.
