Hans Erickson, CFAManaging Director, Equity Investments
Biography

Hans Erickson is a portfolio manager for the TIAA-CREF organization. Mr. Erickson has responsibility for Lifecycle the asset allocation portfolios as well as allocation analytics for the diversified equity, active global equity, large-cap growth and social choice balanced investment strategies. He joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 1996. Mr. Erickson has 26 years of investment experience, including prior positions with the Franklin Templeton organization and Morgan Stanley. Mr. Erickson holds a B.A. in mathematics/economics from Lawrence University and an M.S.E. in operations research from Princeton University. He is a member of the Chicago Quantitative Alliance, the Q-Group and the CFA Society of San Francisco.

 
Thomas Franks, CFAManaging Director, Equity Investments
Biography

Thomas Franks is a managing director and Equity Portfolio Management for the TIAA-CREF organization. Mr. Franks joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2001. Mr. Franks has 17 years of industry experience, including several years at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. in sell-side equity research. Mr. Franks earned a B.S. in operations research and industrial engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School at UCLA. He is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.

 
Saira Malik, CFAManaging Director, Equity Investments, Equity Research
Biography

Saira Malik is a managing director and the Head of Global Equity Research for the TIAA-CREF organization. In addition, Ms. Malik has portfolio management responsibilities for the diversified equity investment strategy. She joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2003. Ms. Malik has 19 years of investment experience, including positions with JP Morgan Asset Management as vice president and portfolio manager for a small cap growth fund, as well as an equity research analyst. Ms. Malik earned a B.S. in economics from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, as well as an M.S. in finance from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

 
William Riegel, CFASenior Managing Director, Head of Equity Investments
Biography

William Riegel is a senior managing director and Head of Equity Investments for the TIAA-CREF organization. In this role, Mr. Riegel oversees active and quantitative portfolio management, equity research and equity trading activities for the organization. In addition, he manages the diversified equity investment strategy. Mr. Riegel joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 1999. Mr. Riegel has 34 years of investment experience. He began his career at JP Morgan in their Investment Management division as a research analyst and later moved into active equity portfolio management. His latest role at JP Morgan was managing director and senior portfolio manager responsible for a number of international equity and convertible portfolios. Mr. Riegel earned a B.A. in history from Williams College. He is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.
