Biography

Thomas Franks is a managing director and Equity Portfolio Management for the TIAA-CREF organization. Mr. Franks joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2001. Mr. Franks has 17 years of industry experience, including several years at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. in sell-side equity research. Mr. Franks earned a B.S. in operations research and industrial engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School at UCLA. He is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.

 
Tom Kolefas, CFAManaging Director, Equity Investments
Biography

Tom Kolefas is a managing director and active equity portfolio manager for the TIAA-CREF organization. Mr. Kolefas manages mid- and large-cap value investment portfolios. He joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2004. Mr. Kolefas has 27 years of investment experience, including equity portfolio management positions with Jennison Associates LLC, Loomis Sayles & Company, L.P. and MacKay Shields. Mr. Kolefas holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from the Albert Nerken School of Engineering at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and an M.B.A. in finance from New York University's Stern School of Business. He is a member of the Association for Investment Management and Research.

 
Saira Malik, CFAManaging Director, Equity Investments, Equity Research
Biography

Saira Malik is a managing director and the Head of Global Equity Research for the TIAA-CREF organization. In addition, Ms. Malik has portfolio management responsibilities for the diversified equity investment strategy. She joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2003. Ms. Malik has 19 years of investment experience, including positions with JP Morgan Asset Management as vice president and portfolio manager for a small cap growth fund, as well as an equity research analyst. Ms. Malik earned a B.S. in economics from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, as well as an M.S. in finance from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

 
Andrea MitroffManaging Director, Equity Investments
Biography

Andrea Mitroff is a managing director and active equity portfolio manager for the TIAA-CREF organization. Ms. Mitroff manages large-cap growth investments. She joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2006. Ms. Mitroff has 25 years of industry experience. Previously, she worked at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers as a portfolio manager of the Disciplined Equity and Renaissance Global Sectors portfolios. Prior to that, Ms. Mitroff served at AIM Funds Management as the director of quantitative analysis and at Barra as a financial consultant. Ms. Mitroff holds a B.S. in economics from the University of California at Riverside and an M.P.A. in public and international affairs from Princeton University.

 
John TriboletManaging Director, Equity Investments
Biography

John Tribolet is a managing director and active equity portfolio manager for the TIAA-CREF organization. Mr. Tribolet manages global equity portfolios. He joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 2005. Mr. Tribolet has 15 years of industry experience including portfolio manager positions at Loomis Sayles and Nicholas Applegate. Previously, he worked in corporate finance at PaineWebber. Mr. Tribolet holds a B.A. in economics from Columbia University and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Chicago.
