Lisa Black is senior managing director and interim Chief Investment Officer of the TIAA General Account. Ms. Black is responsible for the portfolio strategy, asset allocation and risk-adjusted targets for this $200+ billion account consisting of public and private fixed income, private equity, real estate and real asset alternatives. Previously, she was Head of Global Public Markets for the TIAA-CREF organization where she was responsible for overseeing all of the organization’s public fixed-income investment activities, including Portfolio Management, Research, Trading, Derivatives and Quantitative Portfolio Management. She also served as Head of public fixed-income portfolio management and was the Head of public-fixed income trading. Prior to that, Ms. Black has held other roles at TIAA-CREF, including portfolio manager of the short-term and intermediate-term bond funds. She joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 1987 as a corporate credit analyst where she covered paper/forest products, banks and finance companies.
Ms. Black holds an A.B. in economics from Smith College and an M.B.A. from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. She is a member of the Fixed Income Analysts Society and the CFA Institute.
