Roi Chandy is a managing director and Head of Distressed Investments for the TIAA-CREF organization. Mr. Chandy has extensive experience in distressed securities workouts which include out-of-court restructurings, bankruptcies, secured and unsecured debt, public bonds, private placements, emerging market debt, structured finance securities, mezzanine debt, lease debt, commercial mortgages and troubled equity investments. He has both chaired and served on numerous creditor committees. He also has experience directly investing in non-portfolio distressed situations. In addition, Mr. Chandy is involved in the selection of distressed fund investments. He joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 1989.
Mr. Chandy has 26 years of industry experience including a position at Mellon Bank in fixed-income valuation.
Mr. Chandy holds a B.A. in economics and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Rutgers University. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association, the CFA institute and the New York Society of Security Analysts.
