Marina Mavrakis is managing director and head of Portfolio Management, Private Markets for the TIAA-CREF organization. Ms. Mavrakis is responsible for overseeing private debt and equity investments including private placements, private high yield, distressed, private equity, and natural resources & infrastructure. Most recently, she was head of Private Equity, Private High Yield and Distressed Investments, where she was responsible for overseeing the organization’s activities on private equity funds, equity co-investments, mezzanine finance, senior leveraged lending, and distressed investing. While at TIAA-CREF she has held various positions across the private and public markets groups. Ms. Mavrakis joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 1994.
Ms. Mavrakis has over 25 years of investment experience including a position at JP Morgan where she was a credit analyst in the Corporate Finance area.
Ms. Mavrakis holds a B.A. in economics from Smith College and an M.B.A. in finance from New York University, Stern School of Business.
