Secure Access

If you are an eligible Plan Administrator, you can register for secure access and administer your important tasks in an environment that is secure, fast and easy to use.

To register, complete the Administrator Services Application (PDF).

With secure access, you can:

  • Submit your institution's retirement plan contribution lists online
  • Remit contribution funding through electronic funds transfer (EFT)
  • Enroll employees yourself or enable them to enroll themselves online
  • Run online reports for your retirement plans
  • Get online compliance and ERISA Form 5500 support
  • Inquire about your employees' accumulations, allocations and contributions within your TIAA-CREF plan(s)
  • Order enrollment kits and publications
  • Send email to TIAA-CREF

Understanding roles

Online plan administration functionality is now grouped into categories called “roles” that are dictated by administrators’ individual responsibilities. Each role is associated with a group of online tools that enables administrators to best manage plans and support participants within their given function(s). Administrators can be authorized to fill up to three roles.

Contributions
Tools associated with this role allow administrators to:

  • Submit contribution data via an Online Contribution List (OCL), through which data is entered online using an online tracking and management system, or through a file exchange process that enables you to upload a contribution data file using an approved TIAA-CREF format.
  • Remit contribution payment via electronic funds transfer (EFT). EFT is the preferred method of remitting funding to TIAA-CREF, allowing administrators to include contribution funding with the lists/files they submit online. The EFT form, included in the Administrator Services Application (PDF), can also be used for premium remittances and refunds of overpayments.
  • View contribution history.
  • Access secure and confidential employee information. 

Participants
Tools associated with this role allow administrators to:

  • View employee account information, including accumulation by contract and account/fund, year-to-date and life-to-date contributions, grandfathered amounts, and last contribution amount/date and investment allocation for future contributions.
  • Update and/or upload employee termination/rehire and vesting data.
  • Enable employees to use online enrollment.
  • Enroll employees yourself (group plans only).
  • Create an online salary reduction agreement.
  • Access secure and confidential employee information.

Compliance and Reporting
Tools associated with this role allow administrators to:

  • View and run reports about your plans, including balances, premiums, employees and more.
  • View current and historical ERISA and Quarterly Activity Reports.
  • Access secure and confidential employee information.
