What is Adobe Acrobat and why do I need to have it??

Adobe Acrobat is an industry standard application used by web designers for the purpose of creating a uniform way of presenting data on-line. Most computers that you purchase either have the Adobe Acrobat pre-installed or provide a download URL. The basic Adobe Acrobat is free and can be downloaded.

How do I download a form from the Web Center?

The process to download and print a form is very simple. After you find the form or application you want to download, first open the document and then print it. If the document is a standard page, click either the print icon in the toolbar of your browser or from the File menu click on the Print command and hit the OK button. If you are printing a PDF file, then simply click on the Print icon from the toolbar from the Adobe Acrobat box that has opened containing the document.

When I attempt to print the pages with account changes, I keep getting a blank page with a "Data missing" error?

TIAA-CREF has no control over a user's printing functions. The error message that you are receiving is often found with older version browsers (specifically Netscape 4.7 and earlier). The workaround is, in the browser, go to File, Save As, and replace the extension .0 with .html, and save the file.

How can I print the form that I downloaded?

Printing is strictly a "browser" function. In order to print most effectively, you should not use the "Print" button on your browser's navigation bar. It is best to click your cursor anywhere in the field that you wish to print and then choose File from the toolbar, then Print, and make sure you select the option to print "As laid out on the screen". If this still does not work, you can "Save as" from the browser to the desktop's hard drive, then print the saved file from there.

Some PDF files are large and cause me to have problems, any suggestions?

Because some PDF files are so large they could take up most of the space made available in your printers memory. If you have a large file you can break up the file into sections and download and print each section separately. Example, if you had a 10-page document and you could not printout the entire file without losing data or error messages, instruct your computer to print pages 1-5 then print 6-10. This may solve the problem. Another idea is to save the file to your hard drive and print from that source instead of the using the printer memory from the direct download.
