TIAA-CREF today announced the upcoming launch of Myretirement.org, an online community exclusively for the company's participants in the academic, research, medical and cultural fields to discuss their retirement-related interests, experiences and concerns.
When it opens in February, the Myretirement.org will comprise the first online community hosted by a financial services company that is exclusively for clients who are either retired or nearing retirement. The site will offer a forum for TIAA-CREF participants ages 50 and older to explore common interests and experiences on such topics as in health and fitness, volunteering and social activism, education and travel, money and work, family and friends, and more.
"We have learned from our participants that for them retirement means much more than just the financial side of planning," said Jamie DePeau, Senior Vice President of Marketing. "This community belongs to our participants, and is a place where they can explore a reservoir of interests and pursuits, and offer them a place to gain knowledge from trusted sources, share information, expand their network, and communicate with each other about things that matter to them in their everyday lives. It's another example of what we mean when we say TIAA-CREF is here for our participants to and through retirement."
Community members will be able to create their own profiles and connect with fellow members who share their interests, experiences, backgrounds and likes or dislikes. Each forum will be hosted by a Role Model, a retired TIAA-CREF participant who volunteers to share his or her unique perspective on the relevant topic.
Membership in the community will be available by invitation to TIAA-CREF participants beginning in February. Complete information will be available at myretirement.org in early 2008 concurrent with the community's launch.
TIAA-CREF serves 3.3 million individuals, 500,000 of whom currently receive a combined $10 billion in annual payments from the company.
