TIAA-CREF today announced that Janice Innis-Thompson, who has served as Acting Chief Compliance Officer since March 2007, has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer.
Ms. Innis-Thompson will oversee and manage TIAA-CREF's compliance program, and will work closely with the company's business units and support areas to develop and maintain compliance processes and procedures, and integrate them into business processes across the organization. She reports to George W. Madison, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and to the Audit Committees of the Boards of TIAA and CREF.
"TIAA-CREF is committed to maintaining a strong and vigorous compliance function," said Mr. Madison. "Janice has demonstrated remarkable leadership as Acting Chief Compliance Officer, and is exceptionally qualified to continue to build such a function on behalf of our company and clients."
Ms. Innis-Thompson, who joined TIAA-CREF in October 2006, was formerly senior compliance counsel at Tyco International and, before that, International Paper. Previously, she was an Assistant United States Attorney. She holds a B.A. with honors and a J.D. from the University of Florida.
Ms. Innis-Thompson succeeds James G. Reilly, Senior Vice President, who moves to a new role focused on the company's management of its client service improvement efforts.
