Samuel O. Thier, 70, is Professor of Medicine and Health Care Policy, Emeritus at Harvard University and University Professor at Brandeis University. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Partners HealthCare System, Inc. from 1996 through 2002. Dr. Thier is currently on the board of directors of Charles River Laboratories and Merck & Co, Inc. He is also on the Board of Overseers of Cornell University Weill Medical College. Dr. Thier received an M.D. from the State University of New York at Syracuse.
