Roger W. Ferguson, Jr., 56, was named President and Chief Executive Officer of TIAA and CREF effective April 14, 2008. He joined TIAA-CREF following his tenure from 2006 to 2008 at Swiss Re, where he served as Chairman of the firm's America Holding Corporation and Head of Financial Services. Prior to Swiss Re, he was Vice Chairman and member of the Board of the U.S. Federal Reserve from 1999 to 2006, having been a member of its Board of Governors from 1997 to 1999. From 1984 to 1997 he was an Associate and Partner of McKinsey & Company, and from 1981 to 1984 he was an attorney with Davis Polk & Wardwell. Dr. Ferguson is a member of the Board of Overseers of Harvard University and a board member of the Institute for Advanced Study, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and the New America Foundation. Dr. Ferguson holds a B.A. and a Ph.D. in Economics and a J.D., all from Harvard University.
